World Masters of Snooker: Ronnie O’Sullivan wins the title in the Saudi Arabian final by defeating Belgium’s Luca Brecel 5-2 after trailing 2-1; Win gives him a £250,000 bank loan; Earlier on Wednesday, O’Sullivan defeated Judd Trump 4-1 in the semifinals; Brecel won his semifinal match 4-2 over Mark Allen.
In Saudi Arabia, O’Sullivan defeated the reigning world champion 5-2 to capture his fifth championship of the year.
However, he did not win by potting the golden ball, which is worth £395,000 if potted in addition to the 147 and rests on the bottom cushion for as long as a maximum break is feasible.
Throughout the whole Riyadh tournament, John Higgins came the closest to hitting the golden ball. However, after hitting all 15 reds and blacks in his first-round match against Mark Williams, he misplayed the yellow ball.
O’Sullivan is eager to repeat his victory from last year’s competition, which earned him a cheque for £250,000.
O’Sullivan told DAZN, “It’s been a fantastic tournament, a fantastic venue, and the crowd have been amazing.”

“I’ll take the golden ball the following year, and the tournament this year. It will be fantastic.
O’Sullivan won the first frame with a break of 95, but Brecel leveled the match with a powerful second frame rally.
The Belgian seized the lead with a break of 81 in the third frame, but O’Sullivan tied the match again with a 94 clearance after the Belgian missed a black in the following one.
After the break, O’Sullivan stormed to victory, earning his 79th professional title with breaks of 121 and 124.
