PRETORIA, South Africa—Due to their refusal to don a shirt bearing the “Visit Rwanda” insignia, Burundi club Dynamo has been kicked out of the Basketball Africa League.
The BAL declared on Tuesday that the team had declined to follow the league’s regulations on the mandatory uniform and jersey criteria.
Before forfeiting a game against FUS Rabat on Sunday, Dynamo’s players used tape to cover the “Visit Rwanda” insignia on their shirts during their 86-73 victory over the Cape Town Tigers on Saturday.
Tuesday’s match in Pretoria, South Africa between Dynamo and Petro de Luanda, an Angolan team, was forfeited.

On Tuesday, the BAL announced that the team had chosen not to adhere to the league’s rules on the required uniform and jersey requirements.
Dynamo’s players covered the “Visit Rwanda” emblem on their uniforms with tape during their 86-73 victory over the Cape Town Tigers on Saturday, before they were forced to forfeit a game against FUS Rabat on Sunday.
The game between the Angolan team Petro de Luanda and Dynamo on Tuesday was forfeited in Pretoria, South Africa.
