Gabri Veiga chose to relocate to the Saudi Pro League in spite of interest from Newcastle United and Arsenal. After Al-Ahli hijacked Napoli’s pursuit of the winger in August, Veiga moved from Celta Vigo to the Saudi Pro League team for an estimated €38 million.

Veiga, who won’t be 22 until March, recently justified his choice to join the Saudi Pro League rather than sign with one of the top teams in European football. Veiga told El Larguero, as reported by Fabrizio Romano: “I didn’t come to Saudi Arabia merely to make money.

“It was the ideal choice to advance as a player, mature under a youthful coach, play for a star-studded team, and watch the Saudi Premier League grow.” I’m really happy with my decision.

Harvey Barnes, a winger for Leicester City, was chosen by Newcastle United over Veiga, who was a player under Rafa Benitez last season, despite the club’s stated interest in signing him.
