🚨 Steelers Cut Ties With Injured Offensive Lineman 🖤💛

The Pittsburgh Steelers have made a decisive roster move: rookie offensive lineman Gareth Warren has officially been released, ending his short-lived tenure with the team.

Warren, a 22-year-old tackle from Lindenwood University, joined the Steelers as an undrafted free agent in the 2025 NFL Draft cycle. Standing 6’6” and roughly 330 pounds, he arrived in Pittsburgh with upside, coming off a collegiate career in which he had drawn attention for his size and mobility at the FCS level.

The Injury & What Went Wrong

In the team’s second preseason game, Warren suffered a concussion as he dove for a loose ball. That injury forced him to miss the remainder of the preseason. Soon after, he was placed on the Steelers’ Reserve/Injured list as part of final roster cuts.

When a young player’s entry into the league is derailed by injury, the uphill climb becomes steeper. For Warren, his rookie window closed quicker than many expected.

Why Pittsburgh Made the Move

The decision to part ways is rooted less in a single moment than in the larger realities of the Steelers’ offensive-line situation and commitment to immediate performance. The team already has two young tackles they believe in — Broderick Jones and Troy Fautanu — both showing enough promise to earn trust from the coaching staff.

In an organization built on toughness and continuity, health and availability matter just as much as raw potential. With a crowded path ahead for Warren and limited roster spots, the Steelers likely calculated that moving on gave both parties a clearer path forward.

What It Means for the Steelers

This move signals a shift in prioritization for Pittsburgh. They’re not simply stocking up on bodies and hopes — the front office is opting for players who can contribute now. For a franchise with championship darts in their sights, every roster decision carries weight.

From the fan standpoint: this is a reminder that while we root for young prospects, the “show” must go on. Injuries don’t pause for dreams. And on a team like the Steelers, where the standard is high and patience is measured, players who are unavailable—even if talented—find themselves headed elsewhere.

What’s Next for Warren?

Although his time in Pittsburgh ends, Warren is now free to sign with another NFL team, post-injury settlement in hand. While the road back won’t be easy, his age and physical traits mean he might still find an opportunity somewhere willing to invest in his development.

🖤💛 Steelers Nation: Sound off below.

Do you agree with the move? Should the Steelers have given Warren more time, or is this simply the reality of a “next-man-up” culture in Pittsburgh?
