LOCKED IN Till 2035: Saints CEO Gayle Benson Signs $879 Million Caesars Superdome Lease Extension
The New Orleans Saints and the city of New Orleans have officially secured their future together for at least another decade. Saints CEO and owner Gayle Benson announced on Thursday the signing of a blockbuster $879 million contract extension that guarantees the franchise will remain at the iconic Caesars Superdome through the year 2035.
The agreement, finalized after months of negotiations, ensures that the Superdome — one of the NFL’s most historic venues — continues to serve as the home of the Saints while also committing to significant upgrades and fan experience improvements. The deal represents not only a financial milestone but also a cultural commitment, further anchoring the Saints to the heart of Louisiana.
“This is more than just a contract. It’s a promise to our fans, our community, and our city,” Benson said in a press conference at the Superdome. “The Saints belong in New Orleans, and this agreement guarantees that we will continue building memories here through 2035 and beyond.”
The $879 million extension includes a sweeping renovation plan designed to modernize the Superdome while preserving its legacy. Upgrades will include expanded seating options, state-of-the-art digital boards, improved concessions, enhanced luxury suites, and increased accessibility for fans. Officials also confirmed that the Superdome’s exterior will undergo a facelift to keep the venue competitive with newer NFL stadiums around the country.
Louisiana Governor Jeff Landry praised the agreement, calling it “a win for the state and the city of New Orleans.” He emphasized the importance of keeping the Saints in their historic home, noting the massive economic impact the franchise has on the region. “From job creation to tourism and national exposure, the Saints are a cornerstone of Louisiana’s identity. Securing this lease ensures that we will continue reaping those benefits for another decade.”
The deal comes at a time when many NFL teams have explored new stadiums or relocation opportunities. Saints leadership, however, has repeatedly stressed loyalty to the city, citing the deep bond between the team and its fans — a relationship made even stronger in the years following Hurricane Katrina, when the Superdome became a symbol of resilience and recovery.
Fans welcomed the announcement with excitement and relief. “Hearing the Saints are locked in until 2035 feels like security,” said longtime season ticket holder Angela Broussard. “This team is our family, and the Dome is our home.”
The Superdome, which first opened in 1975, has already undergone multiple renovations, including major upgrades ahead of hosting Super Bowl LVIII in 2025. With the new deal, the venue is poised to remain not only the Saints’ home field but also a premier destination for concerts, college football championships, and other major events for the next decade.
NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell applauded the extension, noting that “the Superdome is one of the most iconic venues in sports, and it will continue to be a showcase for the league and the city.”
With this extension, the Saints are firmly rooted in New Orleans until at least 2035, preserving one of the most passionate and unique fan bases in American sports — and ensuring that the heartbeat of the Crescent City continues to echo through the Superdome on Sundays.
