Liverpool vs. Man City predictions: Despite the Reds’ ailments, Anfield is a big component

Our staff has provided their predictions for Sunday afternoon’s match between Liverpool and Manchester City, which might be crucial in the race for the championship.

An arbiter of titles? Arsenal will undoubtedly have some thoughts to share on that, but if a team is losing at Anfield today afternoon, they will have a difficult time climbing back to the top of the standings.

In the most recent installment of their intense rivalry that has engulfed the Premier League in recent years, Liverpool and Manchester City square off once more. The Reds are the only team that has been able to regularly stop Pep Guardiola’s winning machine.

In what will likely be Jurgen Klopp’s final league matchup with City, can they defeat them once more? We sought input from our team.

According to John Cross Logic, Manchester City may be the clear favorite in this match. They’re performing well; unlike Liverpool, who also traveled to Prague, they had an extra day off after their European match.

Jurgen Klopp has done an amazing job at healing Liverpool’s ailments, but the team has also had to play games they barely won by the skin of their teeth. Having said that, though, this fixture has an odd effect on City, which is why I believe it will be a fun draw.

Amazingly, in the Premier League, City has only ever played at Anfield once under Pep Guardiola. There are no feelings wasted between these two fierce opponents; there have been tales spoken over the team bus and in the back rows.
The atmosphere has riled up Liverpool, gotten under City’s skin, and year after year, it has produced thrilling matches, but Guardiola hasn’t always had his way with them. Though I still believe City will win the championship, I believe it will be a draw. Man City 2-2 Liverpool is the prediction.

With just two victories in the previous 42 years, Manchester City’s record against Liverpool highlights how difficult of a task they will have at Anfield on Sunday. When you consider that City’s last victory there came during the Covid-affected 2020–21 season, when Anfield was empty, you can see just how important Liverpool’s passionate supporters can be.
