LEGEND IMMORTALIZED: Drew Brees Officially Inducted Into the Pro Football Hall of Fame
CANTON, Ohio — The wait is over. New Orleans Saints icon Drew Brees has officially been enshrined into the Pro Football Hall of Fame, cementing his place among football’s greatest legends. The September 2025 induction marks the crowning moment of a career defined not only by record-shattering numbers, but also by resilience, leadership, and an unbreakable bond with a city that embraced him as one of its own.
Brees, who retired following the 2020 season, now joins the ranks of football immortals after a career that spanned 20 years with the San Diego Chargers and, most memorably, the New Orleans Saints. Known for his pinpoint accuracy and relentless work ethic, Brees finished his career with 80,358 passing yards and 571 touchdowns, ranking among the top in NFL history. He was selected to 13 Pro Bowls, earned two NFL Offensive Player of the Year awards, and was named Super Bowl XLIV MVP after leading the Saints to their first and only championship in February 2010.
But as his induction ceremony highlighted, Brees’ legacy transcends the gridiron. His journey to Canton is as much about his contributions off the field as his dominance on it. After Hurricane Katrina devastated New Orleans in 2005, Brees signed with the Saints and immediately became a cornerstone of the city’s recovery. Through his leadership, both in the huddle and in the community, he helped resurrect the spirit of a region that desperately needed hope.
“Drew Brees was never just a quarterback,” Hall of Fame President Jim Porter said during the ceremony. “He was a leader, a symbol, and an inspiration to his teammates, his city, and millions of fans around the world. His career is a testament to consistency, toughness, and heart — values that the Hall of Fame celebrates.”
The induction ceremony drew thousands of Saints fans, many clad in black and gold, who made the trip to Canton to witness the moment their hero became immortalized. Among the speakers were former teammates and coaches who praised Brees not just for his precision on Sundays, but for his dedication during long weeks of preparation. Saints owner Gayle Benson described Brees as “the greatest ambassador the city of New Orleans could have ever asked for.”
In his induction speech, Brees reflected on his journey, giving credit to his family, teammates, coaches, and the Saints faithful. “This moment isn’t just about me,” Brees said, holding back emotion. “It’s about the people of New Orleans, who taught me what resilience truly means. Together, we believed, we persevered, and we achieved the impossible. This gold jacket is as much yours as it is mine.”
For Saints fans, Brees’ Hall of Fame induction feels less like an ending and more like a continuation of the bond he forged with the city. His legacy, already immortalized in New Orleans with a statue outside the Superdome, now stands forever in Canton as one of the greatest to ever play the game.
