There has been no progress in finding a solution to the disciplinary problem that has resulted in Jadon Sancho being banned from Man United training.
After ‘overestimating his value’ at Manchester United, Dimitar Berbatov has advised Jadon Sancho to make amends with Erik ten Hag and put in extra effort in training.
Ten Hag said Sancho wasn’t in the squad because of his poor performance in training, and the player replied with a comment on social media after the team’s match against Arsenal last month.
In a public conflict with his manager, the 23-year-old wrote “don’t believe everything you read,” leading to his removal from the first squad and placement on a personal training regimen.
It’s been over four weeks since Sancho’s outburst, and from what we’ve heard, he still hasn’t apologized.
Berbatov told Betfair that it could be better for Sancho to leave Old Trafford as the discipline problem continues to simmer on, despite his belief that Sancho should apologize and attempt to get his career back on track.
He predicted that Jadon Sancho would be unable to advance at the club if things remained the same. “I’m quite dismayed that something like this has been brought to light and is being discussed by so many people. Such incidents are common but rarely reported in the media.
The public seldom sees the fights that players have with their coaches, teammates, club personnel, or even themselves. When it’s associated with a major club like United, it generates more discussion and varied interpretations.
It hasn’t worked out for Sancho after more than two years of trying. Surely Sancho is aware of this, and perhaps this is the source of his displeasure. A disagreement like this might arise out of frustration with oneself and one’s management when both parties are aware of the employee’s lack of productivity.
If Sancho doesn’t apologize to Ten Hag, either publicly or privately, and shows that he has learned from his error, the manager will make the call. After that, he must prove himself worthy of a spot on the squad by working harder in practice and performing well when given the opportunity.
Sometimes a player who takes this long to resolve disagreement has overvalued his own importance to the club; I hope that isn’t the case for Sancho. It’s different when it’s Ronaldo because he’s already done it all.
I was there when Wayne Rooney had his argument with the coach, and they ended up making up. Sancho seems to think too highly of himself. With them, he hasn’t been able to win very many titles. This is a unique circumstance.
This is more than enough reason for United to release Sancho. Despite his obvious potential, which was on full display at Dortmund, he has failed to impress in his early United appearances. Maybe it’s the individuals he hangs out with or the environment he’s in.
Or, perhaps, he just disagrees with the manager. I don’t see this improving, and if it continues we might as well just break up.
