Galatasaray faced up against Zaha’s former side Man United in the Champions League, and Zaha was excited to reunite with his old squad.
Rio Ferdinand, a former Manchester United center defender, has spoken out about his conversation with Wilfried Zaha, a player for Galatasaray, the day before their Champions League match at Old Trafford on Tuesday.
Zaha, who had a disappointing stint with United from 2013 to 2015, left Crystal Palace for the Turkish powerhouses in the summer transfer window. In his second stint, he spent eight years at Selhurst Park, but he yearned for a taste of European competition.
That’s beautiful to watch, an amazing tale for him, and I’m really glad for him because he’s such a kind man, as he told me in the tunnel a few minutes ago: “I’m playing in the Champions League now, this is my dream.”
United fell 1-0 to Crystal Palace last weekend, so they need a win against Galatasaray to go back on track. The Reds, who had beaten Roy Hodgson’s team 3-0 in the Carabao Cup earlier in the week, lost their fourth Premier League game of the season on Saturday after failing to score.
After going almost a year without losing in the league at Old Trafford, the setback on September 16 was the Red Devils’ second straight home league loss.
