Pep Guardiola acknowledges that Manchester City’s Premier League loss to Aston Villa gave them what they deserved.

The reigning champions’ league-long winless streak came to an end as Leon Bailey’s goal in the second half condemned them to a 1-0 loss.

As a result, they are now six points behind leaders Arsenal in fourth place in the standings, and manager Guardiola acknowledged that his team wasn’t the best on the night.

In his words, “Aston Villa were better,” he told Amazon Prime.

“They had an amazing game. We had trouble making our passes and acting aggressively when we were trailing. The superior squad prevailed. We had trouble, particularly in the first part. The second part was an entirely different story. We made some adjustments, but we weren’t able to find the quality of pass or movement throughout the entire game in the last third.”They had the momentum after the first fifteen or twenty minutes, which were the best.

They work as a team physically. They applied good pressure. We had a little trouble finding the pockets because of their extreme organisation, and we were a little behind schedule.”
