In an exciting final set, Iran’s Hossein Vafaei defeated Ronnie O’Sullivan to advance to the World Open quarterfinals in Yushan.

O’Sullivan rallied from behind four times, winning the last set with a break of 125, but in the decider, he mishandled a break of 62.

When he later potted the final red to lead by 26 points, the world No. 1 still appeared to be winning, but he missed a tough black along the cushion rather than choosing toleave Vafaei snookered on the yellow.

 

“I lost vision in my eyes from falling so quickly on the shot. It’s unacceptable that the game shifted abruptly after that. I was afraid I might lose that.
