If an Arsenal player is hurt for the Man City game, Mikel Arteta has a fantastic Bukayo Saka backup.

Bukayo Saka, an Arsenal winger, may miss the match against Manchester City because of a knee injury he got on Tuesday night against RC Lens.

Bukayo Saka, an Arsenal standout, has recently had battles. The Gunners have used the England international in 87 consecutive Premier League games, a club record.

The 22-year-old, though, has been battling a number of injuries lately, suffering minor knocks against Tottenham Hotspur and Bournemouth before being carted off the ground during his team’s 2-1 loss to RC Lens on Tuesday night. As Saka hobbled off the pitch in France, it appeared that he was holding his hamstring, raising concerns about his readiness for the match against Manchester City on Sunday.

However, Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta later asserted on Friday that the alumnus of the Hale End programme was a contender to face the Citizens. When asked about the teenage winger, the Spaniard said, “He’s in contention, let’s see how he develops from here to Sunday.”

“He had to leave the pitch, that’s never good news but let’s see how he recovers.” Even if Saka fails a last-minute fitness test for this weekend’s game, the Gunners still have a more than capable backup for the bright youngster. It remains to be seen whether Arteta is up to his typical mind tricks.
