Youngster Mason Burstow claims Chelsea did not allow him to be transferred during the last window.
when striker Mason Burstow has said that there was interest in purchasing him during the summer when he was on loan to Sunderland, he informed The Northern Echo that his home club was hesitant to let him move permanently.
The 20-year-old is now seeing action as he has started four games in the Championship for Sunderland this season.
He has yet to receive his red and white shirt for his account opening.
Chelsea did not want to permanently part ways with Burstow, despite confirmation from the player that Sunderland was interested in signing him during the summer transfer season.
The teenage forward commented on the Black Cats’ interest in him, saying, “I knew there was interest at the beginning of the window.” The major reason they offered was to purchase me, but Chelsea refused. I had been a part of Chelsea’s team and occasionally made appearances off the bench.
What’s Next for Chelsea
It’s clear that Chelsea has high hopes for Burstow’s eventual inclusion in the first team.
The success of the English youth at Sunderland on loan might offer Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino ideas. Who can say?
There must be something about him that the Argentine loves, since he used him a few times in the Premier League before loaning him to Sunderland.
However, Burstow might be better off investing his time elsewhere, where he can count on getting consistent playing time.
Burstow will be seeking to score his first goal for Sunderland when they face Watford next in the Championship.
