Would Zach Lavine Elevate The Miami Heat Among Championship Favorites
Chicago Bulls All-Star Zach Lavine is among players rumored to be traded at this year’s deadline
The Miami Heat are in need of an additional offensive weapon if they want to compete with teams such as the Boston Celtics and Milwaukee Bucks.
The Chicago Bulls lack of success in recent seasons is leading to star guard Zach Lavine’s involvement in trade rumors. The Heat could benefit from Lavine, who is averaging 22.4 points and 4.7 rebounds on 42.5 percent shooting.
Miami could offer a package of Kyle Lowry, Duncan Robinson, and multiple first-round picks. Robinson is a key contributor off the bench, but Pat Riley and the front office should consider moving him for Lavine.
The Celtics and Bucks made major acquisitions this offseason in Jrue Holiday, Kristaps Porzingis, and Damian Lillard. The Heat missed out on Lillard this summer but could bounce back by trading for Lavine at the deadline.
Guard Tyler Herro sustained an ankle injury against the Memphis Grizzlies, which will likely leave him sidelined for multiple weeks. Although chances are Miami would wait until closer to February, Lavine could lessen the blow of Herro’s injury. See
“I’ve been traded before,” Lavine said to Chicago Tribune’s Julia Poe. “Trades are just part of the business, and guys get shuffled around every year. I’ve been in trade talks since I’ve been here for some reason.”
“I feel like I’ve held up my end of the bargain in my commitment to the Bulls,” Lavine said. “But there’s not a lot you can do with rumors and people putting your name in trade talks.”
