LOS GATOS, CA — Netflix has just dropped a bombshell in the motorsports world with the official announcement of “The Underdog,” a highly anticipated documentary chronicling the life and career of Scott Dean Bloomquist, one of the most legendary and polarizing figures in Dirt Super Late Model racing.

 

The streaming giant has confirmed that the feature-length film will premiere globally on May 15, 2025, promising an unfiltered and emotional look into the rise, fall, and redemption of one of racing’s most enigmatic icons.

 

 

Known for his distinctive persona, controversial past, and undeniable dominance on dirt tracks across America, Bloomquist’s story is one of grit, genius, and grit-fueled glory. Directed by award-winning filmmaker Travis Neumann, “The Underdog” uses a blend of archival race footage, intimate interviews, and never-before-seen behind-the-scenes clips to trace Bloomquist’s journey — from rebellious teen building his first race car in a garage, to becoming a multi-million-dollar racing operation owner, to his struggles with injury, addiction, and redemption.
