Man United’s home Premier League game against Crystal Palace on Saturday afternoon ended in a loss.
In the summer, Sofyan Amrabat had his sights set solely on Manchester United, and now, no matter where he goes, he will be scrutinized.
Yesterday, when Crystal Palace came to town, the team’s chronic defensive issue worsened, and the Moroccan was once again called upon to step in at full-back, the only position he has played in his three appearances for the club.
A common thread has gone through each of the contests. Amrabat has impressed with his assurance while in possession and his insistence on getting plenty of touches, but he has struggled once called upon to defend.
Since his first appearance against Burnley, when he let up a late free-kick that gave the home team a chance to save the game, to his most recent appearance against Palace, he hasn’t looked comfortable while not in control.
