The loaned defender from Manchester United communicated with Nathaniel Shani’s loved ones after scoring his first goal for Kieran McKenna’s squad.
Late in Saturday’s 1-1 draw between Ipswich Town and Huddersfield Town, Brandon Williams scored an equalizer and dedicated it to 14-year-old Nathaniel Shani, who was tragically murdered in Harpurhey last month.
On Friday, September 15, after being discovered near Tavistock Square, emergency personnel rushed to the hospital where Shani later died. On Monday, the day that would have been the young man’s fifteenth birthday, members of the neighborhood came together to remember him.
Harpurhey native Williams scored his first goal for his loan club Ipswich on Saturday as they came from behind to tie Huddersfield. When the ball was sent back across goal, the 23-year-old was there to head it in.
It was a huge goal for Kieran McKenna’s team, who are making a strong early push for a promotion berth in their return to the Championship this season. On Sunday, Williams gave an emotional homage to Shani and his loved ones.
