In the Premier League, Wolves beat Manchester City 2-1 at Molineux. Pep Guardiola thought his team wasn’t at their best during the game.
When Manchester City lost 2-1 at Molineux, Pep Guardiola thought that Ruben Dias and Mateo Kovacic should run at the Wolves defense to make things harder for them.
Wolves were very determined and protected deep, making it hard for Chelsea to make chances. City had few moments in front of goal, and Julian Alvarez needed a 22-yard free kick to equalize.
But an own goal by Dias put the home team ahead, and Hwang Hee-chan scored after halftime to make it 2-0. City never looked like they would be able to get back into the game after that.

Guardiola, who couldn’t be on the field for the loss because he got three yellow cards, said that his team’s attack wasn’t as fluid as normal because they didn’t follow the right steps for going after a 5-4-1 team.
“We had our moments, but I’m not counting the last 10 to 15 minutes because they were harder.” “We didn’t follow our plan to attack with a little more fluidity, which is why we had a little trouble,” Guardiola said.
“[Pedro] Neto was better than us in transitions. They beat us that time not because we weren’t organized; we were able to defend well, but it was a tough game to play, they defend really well.”
Guardiola talked about Dias and Kovacic and how they needed to keep central defenders busy with their straight runs when he was describing what had gone wrong.
“It was harder because they defended so well and Kovacic and Ruben didn’t attack their opponents’ central defenders,” he said.
It was questionable whether or not Hwang should have been given a second yellow card for bringing down Kyle Walker as he ran for the ball late in the first half, but Guardiola wouldn’t blame referee Craig Pawson for the goal.
“Do you think I’m going to say something about the referee?” He told her. “I can get emotional on the sidelines, but I’m humble about my job here.”
“Today we didn’t win because of the ref, we didn’t lose because of the ref. It was ourselves.” This is what happened the last time.”
