In the first eight games of the previous season, Marcus Rashford scored five goals for Manchester United. This season, he has one goal in eight games.

After being taken off of Manchester United’s 1-0 loss to Crystal Palace, Erik ten Hag said Marcus Rashford “can do better” in the future.

After Facundo Pellistri was replaced by Alejandro Garnacho in the 61st minute, Rashford shifted to the right wing and became increasingly unpredictable. After 77 minutes, Anthony Martial replaced Rashford.

United fans have been waiting for Garnacho to be presented all season long, since the 25-year-old has only scored once this year. There were audible groans from some United fans each time Rashford passed the ball away.

After scoring 30 goals in 2022–23 and being named the Sir Matt Busby Player of the Year, Rashford re-signed with the club for another five years in July. But Garnacho’s recent play has earned him consideration for Tuesday’s Champions League match against Galatasaray.
