Tuesday night at Ricardo Saprissa Stadium, the Philadelphia Union took on Deportivo Saprissa in Round One of the 2024 Concacaf Champions Cup and prevailed 3-2 after a fierce battle. After 28 minutes of play in the first half, Saprissa took the lead. With goals in the 55th, 75th, and 77th minutes, Union forward Julian Carranza answered, earning his first Concacaf Champions Cup hat trick. With the goals, Carranza now shares the record for the most career Concacaf Champions Cup goals scored, five, with forward Kacper Przybylko. The Union will host Deportivo Saprissa at Subaru Park on Tuesday, February 27, for the second leg of the Concacaf Champions Cup.
The Union will play their first Major League Soccer match at Subaru park on Saturday, February 24.
