While Real Madrid has demonstrated remarkable success in recent times in spotting and nurturing international talent, the same cannot be said of their ability to develop players from their own junior programme into the first squad. As a result, several of them have moved on to play football for a first team elsewhere.
A few have not left their mark. whereas some have been successful. In fact, Real Madrid has brought some back.
In the summer, Fran Garcia was signed away from Rayo Vallecano. Miguel Gutierrez is another of their former players that Los Blancos were rumoured to be watching. However, it appears that Arsenal is currently pursuing his signing.
Surprisingly, Girona is currently ranked second in La Liga, and the left-back has contributed to that.
It’s estimated that Gutierrez’s current contract with Girona includes a release clause worth about €40 million. However, there are rumours that Real Madrid has both the right of first refusal and a 50% sell-on clause.
Next summer, Los Blancos are anticipated to continue their left-back search. Since joining, Garcia has not really made an impression thanks to his patchy performances. Nevertheless, it appears that Ferland Mendy’s departure is inevitable.
Rumour has it that Real Madrid’s top left-back target is Alphonso Davies. Might they attempt to resurrect Gutierrez?
