In a heartwarming and electrifying reunion, Jalen Hurts, former Alabama Crimson Tide quarterback and current NFL superstar, has returned to Tuscaloosa to host an iconic football camp and begin a short-term coaching stint with the next generation of Alabama talent.
The event, which sold out in minutes, is being hailed as one of the most meaningful homecomings in recent Alabama football history. Hurts,
who led the Tide to two national championship appearances and remains one of the most beloved figures in the program’s modern era, was met with roaring applause and teary-eyed fans as he stepped onto the practice field wearing crimson once again.
“This place made me who I am,” Hurts told a crowd of players and fans. “It’s a privilege to come back and give back to the future of the program that gave me everything.”
A Camp to Remember
Held at the Mal Moore Athletic Facility, the Jalen Hurts Elite Quarterback Camp brought in over 300 top high school quarterbacks and skill players from around the country. The multi-day event focused on leadership, mental toughness, film breakdowns, and intense on-field instruction led by Hurts himself.
Also in attendance were Crimson Tide legends like Tua Tagovailoa, DeVonta Smith, and Coach Nick Saban, who made a surprise appearance to introduce Hurts on Day 1.
“Jalen’s a once-in-a-generation leader,” Saban said. “We’re proud to have him back. These kids aren’t just learning football — they’re learning character.”
Temporary Coaching Role Announced
In a surprise announcement, Alabama athletic director Greg Byrne confirmed that Hurts will serve as a guest offensive assistant coach for the Crimson Tide over the next few weeks, helping mentor early-enrolled freshmen and incoming quarterbacks during offseason drills.
“This is about legacy and development,” Byrne said. “Jalen will play a pivotal role in shaping our next generation of Tide greats.”
Hurts will be hands-on with quarterback drills, offensive schematics, and classroom leadership sessions — a move that has energized both players and fans.

Freshman QB Ryan Williams — the nation’s No. 1 dual-threat quarterback — said training under Hurts has already been “a dream.”
