Steiner talks about the “stung” moment, his future plans for Formula One, and Haas’ departure.

For the first time since it was announced that he and the Haas F1 Team had split up with immediate effect, Guenther Steiner has made public remarks. In these remarks, he provides additional context for the story, offers advice to the team’s staff, and considers his own future goals.

Ayao Komatsu, the team’s director of engineering, will take over for Steiner, who has headed the operation since their F1 debut in 2016. Haas announced earlier this week that Steiner would be leaving his position on the eve of the 2024 season.

Steiner provides his version of events.

When Steiner appeared on Saturday at the Autosport International Show in Birmingham, UK, the crowd welcomed the well-liked Italian and Drive To Survive star with open arms. Steiner shared his initial thoughts on the reshuffle.

“May I just start with a little bit from my end?” Steiner started as he got comfortable in a dialogue with David Croft of Sky Sports F1. “When I left Haas F1, I didn’t get the chance to express my gratitude to a few people. I simply want to express my gratitude to every team member to whom I was unable to bid farewell in person before my departure.

“It’s great that so many of you supported Haas when I was there, and I want to thank you all for that as well. With so many people present, it’s one of those occasions. I would like to express my gratitude to everyone for their support, both past and present, and for coming as well.
