Leeds United midfielder Archie Gray is not thrilled, despite being linked with Liverpool.
The Reds have surprisingly said they are ready to make a move for Gray during next summer’s transfer window.
The 17-year-old’s stock is on the rise as he has become a fixture at Leeds United’s promotion chase. He has even been compared to Liverpool’s Trent Alexander-Arnold. But according to former Leeds defender Aidy White, the youngster’s feet are firmly on the ground. Speaking to BBC Radio Leeds this weekend, White says that after speaking to Gray’s father Andy – a former Leeds player – he doesn’t see Archie moving on.
“He is surrounded by sensible people who have had an incredible career – his family and his father,” says the expert. “I spoke to his father. He’s putting everything down because he needs to recover, he’s got a head on his shoulders.
“All these relationships that have come up, there’s no doubt that his family is close and they’re keeping him close. Hopefully now the call is right to stay here, play football and learn my trade here.
Gray doesn’t get excited
This is a really important point that will no doubt fascinate Jürgen Klopp even more.
A manager looking for a certain type of character for his potential signings, Klopp appreciates that Gray has a good head on his shoulders and good people around him.

With The Daily Mail valuing Gray’s potential fee at as much as £40m, the midfielder’s head may be starting to swell. Who could blame him.
But with the right advice, hopefully that won’t happen. In that regard, Archie seems to be organized. In addition to his father, the youngster can count Leeds legend Eddie Gray as part of his extended family. Klopp might like it, but we still don’t think it will be enough to tempt Liverpool into paying such a high fee. If Gray can get promoted to the Premier League with Leeds and prove himself there, he could become a more serious option.
If his feet are still on the ground – and he’s still with the Peacocks – then it might be time to do something. Enough of the viewing summary for now.
