Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta has a growing injury list, with the likes of Martin Odegaard, Thomas Partey, Gabriel Jesus, Emile Smith Rowe and Jurrien Timber all currently sidelined.
Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta was unable to select club captain Martin Odegaard on Saturday night as his side were defeated 1-0 by Newcastle United. Odegaard had scored a late consolation goal against West Ham United last week as the Gunners crashed out of the Carabao Cup – playing just 10 minutes at the London Stadium.
understands the 24-year-old was assessed ahead of the Magpies clash, but was ruled out despite his injury not being a serious concern with there being a possibility he could return to action against Sevilla next week. But the Norway international isn’t the only big name to be sidelined for the north Londoners at the minute.

Odegaard was left out of the squad against Newcastle after failing to be passed fit in time for kick-off. The Norwegian playmaker could return to action this week as his issue is not thought to be serious.
Emile Smith Rowe missed out on the matchday squad for Wednesday’s trip to the London Stadium, picking up a knee injury prior to the match. It remains to be seen exactly how long he will be sidelined for in what is a major blow to Mikel Arteta and Co, though the manager said it would be a case of weeks.

Gabriel Jesus was excellent against Sevilla in the Champions League, netting a goal and providing an assist but there was an injury worry when he pulled up clutching his hamstring late on in the game. Eventually, he limped off for Eddie Nketiah with 10 minutes remaining on the night. It remains to be seen how serious the issue is.
Jesus was sent for a scan on his hamstring and Arteta confirmed there would be an absence for the forward in the coming weeks. Reports have suggested he could be targeting a comeback in December, but whether or not he’s back before or after the international break remains to be seen.
The scans show that there is a muscle injury. We might miss him for a few weeks again… With him I am not going to put any (time frame) because I did it once and I got it totally wrong. We need to be cautious because we need to treat him in the right way but he is already pushing everybody, he wants to be back as quickly as possible and we need him so that is great.”
understands that the Dutch international underwent successful surgery and is now in the ‘recovery phase’ of his rehabilitation. He was in attendance for the game against Man United earlier this season.
football.london spoke to Timber post-match where the 22-year-old was still using the aid of two crutches to move about. Asked how he was feeling with his recovery, a swift, ‘good, good’ was the response. He will be sorely missed, especially with the club failing to find a suitable replacement in the summer transfer window.
