Gabriel Jesus cites Arsenal’s need to “run, fight, be efficient, and score goals” in order to secure a tense 1-0 victory over Manchester City.
At the Emirates, a late Gabriel Martinelli goal handed Pep Guardiola’s team their second straight Premier League loss. Before the winger’s 86th-minute shot, which deflected off Nathan Ake and past the unprepared Ederson, the game appeared destined to end in a scoreless draw.
The matchup between the top two teams from the previous season was cagey and stressful, with neither team able to attack freely and two strong defences cancelling each other out. Even so, Martinelli was able to capitalise on his opportunity, and Jesus acknowledges that it was a significant victory for his team.
